Community Advocates

Community advocacy is accomplished by first identifying gaps in service and current systemic barriers. Sunrise has two social workers identified as "Community Advocates". Community members can access the Community Advocates through an appointment only process. One on one support is offered through crisis counselling, basic needs referrals, interim counselling, and enhancing people's self-advocacy skills.

Referrals to workers that have satellite support on site is another service we offer. Collaboration with other east area serving agencies provides a network of support in which the challenges can be addressed and solutions developed.
