Sunrise Community Link (Sunrise) is a grassroots community development agency and resource centre engaged in poverty reduction and community economic capacity building in east Calgary. This includes the communities of Abbeydale, Albert Park/Radisson Heights, Applewood, Belfast, Chateau Estates, Dover, Erin Woods, Forest Heights, Forest Lawn, Franklin/Meridian Business Park, Hubalta, Marlborough, Marlborough Park, Mayland Heights/Vista Heights, Penbrooke Meadows, Red Carpet, and Southview.
Sunrise is located at 2nd Floor, 3509 - 17 Avenue S.E., Calgary Alberta, T2A 0R5 and is open:
- Monday - Thursday 10:00 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
- Friday 10:00 a.m. - 11:45 a.m.
Sunrise is closed each day from 12:00 p.m. - 1:00 p.m. Basic Needs Such As Emergency Hampers And Referrals MUST Be Done Between 10:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Monday to Thursday And 10:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Friday on a walk in basis. You are welcome to phone before your visit to confirm the availability of services.
Every year Sunrise Community Link receives more than ten thousand phone calls and visits from people in our communities who are experiencing poverty and other critical issues, and seeking help with food, clothing, furniture, housing, counseling and other supports. These people are looking for assistance with job searches, food hampers, counseling and housing assistance. Each month, more than 25 emergency food and hygiene hampers are distributed, and 119 families access counseling, support and advocacy.
Sunrise receives donations of food, toiletries and baby supplies from a number of generous donors. However, the need is great and financial donations are critical. We can use the dollars you send to purchase important items that tend not to be donated (like canned fish for protein, or baby formula) to create Christmas hampers for our client families, and to support client services programs that enable Sunrise to respond to the diverse needs of community residents.
